XDOC Print Proxy Client 2.0 – Customer Guide

Overview

The XDOC Print Proxy Client 2.0 enables users to print documents directly from XDOC virtual printers and continue processing within the XDOC workflow.

The client performs the following functions:


Installation Package

The XDOC Print Proxy Client 2.0, can be dowloaded here.


Standard Installation

  1. Run the XDOC Print Proxy Client setup executable.
  2. Follow the installation wizard prompts.
  3. Enter your XDOC server connection information:

    • Protocol (http or https)
    • Server name or domain
    • Port number
  4. Select the printer drivers and optional components you wish to install.
  5. Complete the installation.

Silent (Unattended) Installation

The XDOC Print Proxy Client 2.0 supports automated deployment using a configuration file and silent installation parameters.

Required Configuration Values

The following settings must be defined in axInstall.cfg:

Example Silent Installation Command

setup.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART

This installation method is suitable for automated deployment tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and Group Policy.


Installed Components

Depending on the installation options selected, the following components may be installed:

Component Description
axPrintProxy.exe Main Print Proxy Client application
config\axPrintProxy.cfg Client configuration file
resource\axPrintProxy.res Resource and localization file
config\axPrintProxyConfig.exe Settings application (optional)
Printer Drivers Black and White, Color, and True-Color virtual printers (based on selected options)

Managing Configuration Settings

Configuration settings can be modified using either of the following methods:

Option 1 – Settings Application

If installed, launch:

axPrintProxyConfig.exe

to update connection and printer settings through the user interface.

Option 2 – Edit the Configuration File

Modify the configuration file directly:

config\axPrintProxy.cfg

Any changes should be saved before restarting the client.


Uninstalling the Client

Standard Uninstall

  1. Open Windows Settings > Apps.
    • Alternatively, open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Locate XDOC Print Client in the application list.
  3. Select Uninstall and follow the prompts.

Silent (Unattended) Uninstall

The uninstaller supports silent operation for enterprise deployments.

Example Command

"C:\XDOC\Client\PrintProxy\unins000.exe" /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART

Automated Removal

For mass deployment scenarios, use the provided helper script which automatically locates the installed uninstaller using the Windows Registry.

PowerShell

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File silent-uninstall.ps1

Batch File

silent-uninstall.bat

Note: Run the batch file from an elevated Command Prompt.

Troubleshooting

Upload Fails

Verify that the XDOC server settings in:

config\axPrintProxy.cfg

are correct, including protocol, server name, and port.
